Apocalypse Scale

Why do I find this kind of thing interesting? Do I have a morbid fascination with the end of civilization? I don't think so. Perhaps it's just that people have taken the time to actually think this through that grabs my attention. In any case, just as in the Fujita and the Saffir-Simpson scales for tornadoes and hurricanes respectively, Jamais Cascio has developed a scale to measure the degrees of destruction caused by various apocalyptic events.
